Material Handler Level 1

3pm -11pm

Pay Rate: $16/Hour plus $0.75 an hour shift differential

• Lead with "Safety First" Culture
• Understand standard sanitation processes
• Unpack boxes to stock bins
• Pack variety boxes with correct amount of product of each type
• Palletize boxes according to spec
• Understand the LPN process
• Verify correct case labels match product specification
• Pack and palletize boxes at rate
• Check expiration date matches product specifications
• Take ownership for equipment and conduct CILs as needed
• Follow all Shearer's safety guidelines, GMPs, and food quality reflected in SQF
• Hold quality and reliability as high standards of production service and clearly communicates these standards to others.

Packaging

• Verify case labels match product specification.
• Verify code dates match the bag and label
• Identify what changeovers will occur during the shift.
• Check quality of product before packaging
• Package to specification and according to rate
• Drive for zero mistakes.
• Understand different box types and box folds
• Palletize product according to specification
• Order boxes from warehouse.
• Empty trash cans
• Keep area free of foreign material (wood, box pieces, and film).
• Set up changeovers with all supplies (labels, boxes, tape machine, etc.)
• Inspect bags for proper code dates per customer specification.
• Follow safety procedures and proper usage of a pallet jack
• Follow proper procedures for wrapping and labeling a pallet
• Conduct quality checks at LPN station

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to stand, lift, and reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly lift and /or move up to 50+ pounds
• Regularly going up and down stairs as the job requires.
• Repetitive bending while lifting boxes or performing activities.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to be on their feet for eight (8+) hours, to keep up with a fast and repetitious pace.
• Repetitive pushing and pulling while using the pallet jack to move heavy material or finished goods.
• Regular exposure to moving, mechanical parts.
• Regular exposure to noise levels that may require use of ear protection.

Food Safety

• Follow all Shearer's safety guidelines, GMPs, and food quality reflected in SQF
• Avoids injury and damage by practicing superior safety habits.

Food Quality

• Maintains Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in personal hygiene and in the work area.
• Ensure all potatoes are of Shearer's quality specifications.
• Reports any foreign objects in the potatoes.
