Your seat at the table

The Packaging Machine Operator Expert/Trainer provides safety, manufacturing, and customer service-based leadership to achieve outstanding business results on a specific production system or process. As a member of the Shearers FTW manufacturing operations team, the Packaging Operator Expert/Trainer is expected to continue to perform duties and responsibilities that any operator does in his/her role, and it's expected that all products manufactured must follow appropriate procedures in a clean and safe work environment and meet all GMP and other applicable regulations.

The Packaging Machine Operator Expert/Trainer at the same time will also be responsible to become the trainer/mentor for new packaging machine operators following a structure training/certification program. This position will require the Packaging Machine Operator Expert/Trainer to have flexible hours and/or schedule as the business requires it in order to guaranteed it's continuation. The outcome will be to certify new PMOs on all, simple and complex equipment, skills in order to comply with Plant's positions, expectations and become an asset to the company.

What you bring to the table

  • Lead with "Safety First" Culture
  • Fully train and develop new and existing PMO's within a defined amount of time or as the business requires it.
  • Train and mentor, all PMO's on standard sanitation processes of seasoning and packaging equipment.
  • Teach and develop asset ownership among all new and current PMO's for the equipment they run and care for every day. (CIL, simple PM activities)
  • Use multiple teaching techniques to ensure the intended PMOs capture, learn and develop their skills and awareness of their job responsibilities to be successful.
  • Support the training and certification program of all PMO's along with the Training & Qualification Supervisor.
  • Continue to update and adapt training materials according to the business needs.
  • Train new PMOs on all technical skills as well as support systems such as MIP and Infinity.
  • Train Packaging Machine Operators online balancing techniques in order to maximize throughput, reduce waste, and UPDT.
  • Manage training requirements for new and existing PMOs
  • Support the management of breaks and lunches based on the established plan by the Supervisor and/or Shift Coordinator.
  • Demonstrate technical and business expertise on systems/products/technologies they are responsible for and provide input and suggestions for process improvements as well as for procedure writing and revision.
    • Adjust/Repair scales and baggers components (formers, scale buckets, tumblers, check weighers, etc.)
    • Generate WO and close out minor PMs using Maintenance Connection (CMMS).
    • Perform packaging line / equipment operational tasks that include monitoring and documenting production and equipment performance, trouble-shooting operational problems, staging correct supplies at the packaging line, inspection of packaging, hand packing, etc.
    • Complete, review, and in collaboration with Quality Assurance ensure written and electronic documentation is accurate and factual as required by policy, procedure and regulatory guidelines.
    • Hold quality and reliability as high standards of production service and clearly communicates these standards to others.
    • Actively participate in and occasionally lead the DO/Tier One meetings and capture daily line performance (metrics) data using LEDS (line event data) system.
    • Drive total employee involvement in critical success areas by identifying, recording, and solving defects
    • Leads/support identification of root causes and addresses them using proper CI tools.
